Nike's impact on Society:
Nike made a huge impact on society by turning sneakers into a culture. Since the 80s shoes have become the most desirable accessory in the world. Not only are sneakers used for athletics and getting around, they are also a fashion. Everyone wants to have the "freshest" and "coolest" sneakers out there. Even hip hop artists and basketball players promote sneakers today. This idea of sneaker culture originated when Nike came out with their new line of sneakers called Air Jordan. With the release of Air Jordan the sneaker industry boomed. Everyone wanted their own pair of Jordan sneakers. Some people even bought multiples of the same pair but in a different color to match with different outfits. People even started to collect sneakers after the release of Air Jordan. Today the original Air Jordan 1's that were banned from the NBA sell for around $1000. Nike completely transformed the image of the sneaker by creating a culture out of sneakers.
